Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense has reported detecting heightened Chinese military activity around its territory, with three Chinese military aircraft and seven ships observed between 6 a.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday. Among these, one aircraft from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army breached Taiwan’s southwestern air defense identification zone.
In response, Taiwan has actively deployed military aircraft, naval vessels, and coastal missile systems to surveil the Chinese maneuvers. This recent activity is part of a broader pattern of increased Chinese military operations in the region, which Taiwan perceives as part of Beijing’s gray-zone tactics—a strategy involving non-traditional military aggression aimed at exerting pressure without sparking open conflict.
Throughout October, Taiwan has recorded 28 instances of Chinese military aircraft and 91 sightings of ships around the island. The Taiwanese government remains vigilant, closely monitoring these developments to safeguard its national security.
