Taiwanese weightlifter Chen Guan-ling has secured two silver medals and one bronze at the World Weightlifting Championships in Ningbo, China. Competing in the women’s 57kg category, the 21-year-old athlete delivered an impressive performance, particularly in the clean and jerk discipline.
Chen’s achievement included a successful lift of 125kg in the clean and jerk, earning her a silver medal in that discipline. Additionally, her combined total lift of 215kg granted her another silver medal. In the snatch, she showcased her strength by claiming a bronze medal.
This latest success marks an improvement over her performance at the 2024 World Weightlifting Championships, where she had won one silver and two bronze medals. Earlier this year, Chen also earned a bronze medal in the same category at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
The World Weightlifting Championships, which continue until November 8, play a crucial role in accumulating qualification points for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. However, it’s important to note that the women’s 57kg category is not part of the Olympic weightlifting program, which features six different weight classes.
