In a significant development for regional aviation, China’s Loong Air has inaugurated its first cross-strait service, launching a direct flight route connecting Chengdu Tianfu International Airport and Taichung International Airport. This new route is set to enhance travel connectivity between southwestern China and central Taiwan, providing a much-needed link for passengers in the region.
The newly established route will operate twice weekly, with flights scheduled on Tuesdays and Saturdays. This addition highlights Loong Air’s strategic expansion into cross-strait services, which are expected to facilitate easier and more efficient travel for both business and leisure travelers between the two destinations.
Taichung International Airport, benefiting from this new route, now boasts a total of 31 routes that are either currently operational or have been announced. This includes 20 regular flight services and 11 charter routes, underscoring the airport’s growing status as a vital hub in the region.
With the introduction of the Chengdu route, Taichung Airport expands its scheduled cross-strait destinations, which already includes flights to Nanjing and Qingdao. This expansion is part of a broader effort to enhance the airport’s connectivity and service offerings, aligning with regional travel demands and economic growth opportunities.
