The Philippines has announced that it will continue to offer a 14-day visa-free entry to travelers from Taiwan until June 30 of next year. This extension is part of an ongoing initiative to boost tourism and enhance interpersonal connections between the two regions. Taiwanese nationals will be able to visit the Philippines without a visa for stays of up to two weeks, a policy that was put into place last year. However, those planning longer visits will still be required to secure a visa prior to their arrival.
The decision to prolong the visa-free entry is in line with the Philippine government’s strategy of maintaining balanced visa policies. This approach is reciprocated by Taiwan, which similarly offers visa-free travel for Philippine citizens. The mutual arrangement is seen as a way to foster closer ties and facilitate easier travel between the two locales.
In addition to extending the visa-free policy, the Philippines is aiming to draw more Taiwanese tourists by increasing airline routes and promoting a broader range of attractions. While popular spots like Palawan continue to draw visitors, the government is keen on showcasing lesser-known areas and unique travel experiences across the country to entice more international tourists.
According to tourism figures, nearly 94,000 tourists from Taiwan visited the Philippines in the first five months of this year. This marks an increase over the same timeframe last year, solidifying Taiwan’s position as one of the Philippines’ leading sources of international visitors. The growth in tourist numbers highlights the effectiveness of the visa-free policy in attracting more travelers from Taiwan.
