In a significant move to bolster the drone industry and ensure supply chain security, Taiwan and Japan have agreed to bolster their cooperation. This was formalized with the signing of a letter of intent between Taiwan’s Global UAV Academy (GUAVA) and the Japan Drone Consortium, a development that took place at the International Drone Expo held in Tokyo.
The collaboration is set to focus on creating a resilient supply chain for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that does not depend on China. This partnership will see both nations working together on research and development initiatives, enhancing cybersecurity measures, and providing training for skilled professionals in the field. Additionally, they plan to host joint industry events to further cement their cooperative efforts.
Emphasizing Taiwan’s capabilities, the agreement highlights the nation’s advanced manufacturing skills, leading-edge semiconductor technology, and robust information and communications expertise. Furthermore, Taiwan’s network of over 300 companies involved in drone-related activities positions it as a strong partner in this venture.
