In a commanding performance at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting secured her second consecutive gold medal in women’s boxing. Lin triumphed over China’s Yang Chengyu with a decisive 5-0 victory in the 60kg final, reinforcing her status as a leading figure in her sport.
This victory marks Lin’s first major international win since transitioning to the 60kg category after clinching gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Previously, she had claimed the 57kg gold medal at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, showcasing her ability to dominate across different weight classes.
Lin’s journey to the gold was not without its challenges. She faced Kazakhstan’s Viktoriya Grafeyeva in the opening round, a competitor to whom she had lost earlier this year at the World Boxing Cup final. Overcoming this past defeat added a layer of significance to her Asian Games success.
The triumph is particularly meaningful for Lin, who had contemplated retirement following her Olympic victory. The decision to continue competing has now been validated by her latest achievement, although she has yet to confirm if she will defend her Olympic title at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
