Taiwan’s Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim recently hosted a delegation of Australian parliamentarians, led by Senate Deputy President Slade Brockman, at the Presidential Office in Taipei. The meeting focused on strengthening the longstanding partnership between Taiwan and Australia, with discussions revolving around enhancing cooperation amidst evolving Indo-Pacific and global economic conditions.
Vice President Hsiao emphasized Taiwan’s efforts to diversify its economic partnerships and create stable supply chains with reliable international allies. She noted that Taiwan and Australia are already collaborating in various sectors such as energy and minerals, and stressed the importance of expanding these partnerships to support mutual economic growth and development.
Hsiao also highlighted Taiwan’s recent economic expansion, attributing part of this growth to the strong global demand for artificial intelligence and advanced hardware. By strengthening international relations, she aims to further boost economic progress and development in Taiwan.
Expressing appreciation for Australia’s continued engagement, Hsiao looked forward to further enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation. The meeting underlined the commitment of both Taiwan and Australia to work together for a prosperous future in the region.
