Trump to Address Knesset, Rally Mideast Leaders at Summit

Date:

President Donald Trump is set for a landmark address to Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, as the first stop on a diplomatic tour aimed at solidifying a fragile peace in Gaza. This honor, last granted to a US president in 2008, kicks off a trip that will culminate in a major summit in Egypt, where Trump hopes to rally regional support for a durable Mideast settlement.
The speech to the Knesset is a powerful symbol of the US-Israel alliance and comes at a critical time. It allows Trump to speak directly to the Israeli people and leadership, celebrating the new ceasefire and hostage deal while outlining his vision for the region’s future. The timing is crucial, as the release of the final Israeli hostages held by Hamas is anticipated to occur during his visit.
Following his time in Israel, Trump will travel to Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. There, alongside Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, he will preside over a summit with leaders from more than 20 countries. This gathering is central to his strategy of building a broad coalition to underwrite the peace, both politically and financially.
The summit’s agenda will focus on the immense challenges of post-war Gaza, including governance and reconstruction. Trump has emphasized his expectation that wealthy Arab nations will take the lead in funding the rebuilding effort. He also sees the summit as a platform to push for an expansion of the Abraham Accords, arguing that a stable Gaza is a prerequisite for wider Arab-Israeli normalization.
From the podium of the Knesset to the negotiating tables in Egypt, Trump’s message will be one of opportunity. He is framing the current moment not just as an end to a conflict, but as the beginning of a new era of cooperation and stability in the Middle East, driven by American leadership.
