The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) has announced that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) Chairman C.C. Wei and former Chairman Mark Liu will jointly receive the prestigious Robert N. Noyce Award, the organization’s highest honor. The award recognizes exceptional leadership and contributions to technological advancement in the semiconductor industry.
Wei and Liu are set to receive the accolade at the SIA Awards Dinner on November 20 in San Jose, California. Their combined careers span over 80 years of influence and innovation in the global semiconductor sector. Under their leadership, TSMC has played a pivotal role in advancing chip technology and reinforcing the global semiconductor supply chain.
“Dr. C.C. Wei and Dr. Mark Liu are titans in our industry, having reshaped the modern semiconductor ecosystem,” said SIA President and CEO John Neuffer. He noted their visionary leadership in driving technological breakthroughs that have enabled advancements in computing, mobile devices, artificial intelligence, and more.
TSMC, recognized as the world’s largest contract chipmaker, remains a cornerstone of the global technology infrastructure. The company continues to drive innovation, recently announcing the development of nine new manufacturing and packaging facilities in 2025 as part of its ongoing expansion strategy.
Acknowledging the award, Wei remarked that the honor reflects the collective contributions of TSMC’s workforce and follows in the legacy of company founder Morris Chang. Liu echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of mentorship, collaboration, and the responsibility to inspire future generations of industry leaders.
