Google has opened its largest AI infrastructure hardware engineering center outside the United States, marking a significant expansion of its operations in Taiwan. The new facility strengthens Taiwan’s reputation as a trusted global technology hub and reinforces its strategic role in the AI supply chain.
Taiwan, home to leading chipmaker TSMC, plays a crucial role in powering the worldwide AI boom, with its semiconductors widely used in advanced systems developed by companies such as Nvidia. Google noted that technology engineered and tested in Taipei supports its global data centers, which in turn run devices and services relied upon by billions of users.
At the opening ceremony, Taiwan President William Lai reaffirmed that the investment demonstrates Google’s long-term confidence in Taiwan’s innovation capabilities. He emphasized that the country is not only central to the global tech supply chain but is also becoming a key hub for secure and trustworthy AI development.
The new center also highlights the strong technological cooperation between the US and Taiwan, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing innovation and strengthening economic ties.
